Return and Refund Policy

Guitar Parts

We offer a return and refund on guitar parts purchased as long as the buyer meets the following criteria:
  • If you feel the need to return an item, it must be in resalable condition. Resalable condition means that the product(s) is in exactly the same condition as it was when you received it.
  • All guitar parts returned must be within 14-days of the original purchase.
  • All returned guitar parts must be accompanied by a copy of the original purchase receipt.
  • All returns must be pre-paid and returned in original packing, complete with blank warranty cards, owner's manual and no sign of wear or abuse. In the event that the product is not in the same condition as you received it, as determined by The Hoagland Brothers, you may be subject to a minimum 15% restocking fee, repair charge or disqualification.
  • We do not refund shipping and handling costs.
  • If the purchased part has been used, it cannot be accepted for return/refund.
  • There are no returns on the following items: pickguards, guitar strings, electronic parts (pots, capacitors, resistors, switches), custom-made pickups, custom-built guitar wiring harnesses.

Custom-built Guitar Wiring Harnesses

There are no refunds on custom-built wiring harnesses. We do, however, warranty all custom-built wiring harnesses as follows:
  • Product not as described:
    • If you feel that the custom-built Hoagland Brothers wiring harness that you received does not fit the description of the product as listed on our web site, www.hoaglandbrothers.com, it should be reported to our shop within 14 days from the date of the purchase. Clear evidence must be provided proving that the purchased product is not as it is described on the web site. Complaints which are based merely on the customer's false expectations or wishes are not honored. If we feel that it is different from the product listed on our web site, we will have you return the harness to our shop and we will ship you the correct harness. We will pay the return freight from you to our shop and back to you.
  • Major defects
    • Although all the products are thoroughly tested before shipping, unexpected errors may occur. In the case of such an error, you must contact Hoagland Brothers either by email or phone for return approval. We reserve the right to either repair the harness in question or replace it with another, new harness at our discretion within 14 days of receipt. If any deficiency is approved and we fail to correct it and ship it within 14 days from the date we receive it from the customer, we will issue, at the customer's discretion, a refund for the harness OR a purchase credit equal to the original purchase amount (not to include the shipping costs). Failure, on the customer's part, to return the harness for service/repair after contacting our shop may result in a delayed resolution of the issue. Refusal to return the harness in question to our shop within 14 days will result in your inability to qualify for a replacement or a refund.

Custom-built Heywood Pickups®

Heywood Pickups® are covered under our "Heywood Wants You Happy!" Ten Year Limited Warranty. There are no refunds on custom-built Heywood Pickups. We do, however, warranty all custom-built Heywood Pickups as follows:
  • Heywood's Pickups® guarantees to repair or replace, at our discretion, any defective pickup during the first 10 years of original ownership unless we deem it abused. (see below)
  • The warranty applies to the original purchaser and must be accompanied by a copy of the original sales receipt to be eligible.
  • Abused pickups, as determined by The Hoagland Brothers, will not be accepted for return. Abuse includes, but is not limited to: removing the leads, removing the protective coil tape, wiring the pickup in a way that it was not meant to be wired (as determined by The Hoagland Brothers), physical damage such as any damage to the bobbin, coil, coil wires, baseplate, corrosion due to exposure to any type or quantity of liquid (beer, water, etc.), resoldering or reconnecting leads onto the pickup itself, or punctures.
  • If you are the original owner and are not happy with the sound of your pickup purchased from Heywood Pickups®, you can exchange it within the first 30 days of ownership for another pickup.
  • Pickups with cosmetic damage (as determined by The Hoagland Brothers) can only be returned for repair, not for exchange.
  • The purchaser pays for return shipping costs.
  • Product not as described:
    • If you feel that the custom-built Heywood Pickup(s) that you received does not fit the description of the product as listed on our web site, www.hoaglandbrothers.com, it should be reported to our shop within 30 days from the date of the purchase. Clear evidence must be provided proving that the purchased product is not as it is described on the web site (such as a documented digital meter reading of the DC resistance of the pickup) (Since DC resistance readings are affected by temperature, there is an acceptable variance of .2k ). Complaints which are based merely on the customer's false expectations or wishes are not honored. If we feel that it is different from the product listed on our web site, we will have you return the pickup to our shop and we will ship you the correct pickup. We will pay the return freight from you to our shop and back to you.
  • Major defects

In the event that the pickup does not function and appears "dead" (no reading on an ohms meter), we will replace it with another, new pickup within 21 days of receipt. If any deficiency is approved and we fail to correct it and ship it within 21 days from the date we receive it from the customer, we will issue, at the customer's discretion, a refund for the pickup OR a purchase credit equal to the original purchase amount (not to include the shipping costs). Failure, on the customer's part, to return the pickup(s) for service/repair after contacting our shop may result in a delayed resolution of the issue. Refusal to return the pickup(s) in question to our shop within 14 days will result in your inability to qualify for a replacement or a refund.

    Custom-built Hoagland Brothers® Loaded Pickguards

    Hoagland Brothers® Loaded Pickguards are covered under one of two different categories:
    • ordered from our web site
    • custom-built to the customer's specifications
    The warranty information on each is as follows:
    Pertaining to Hoagland Brothers® Loaded Pickguards purchased through our web site:
    • There are no refunds on loaded pickguards.
    • Hoagland Brothers® guarantees to repair or replace, at our discretion, any defective Heywood Pickup® on any loaded pickguard purchased through our web store during the first 10 years of original ownership unless we deem it abused and subject to certain conditions. (see below) (Since DC resistance readings are affected by temperature, there is an acceptable variance of .2k )
    • Hoagland Brothers® guarantees to repair or replace, at our discretion, any defective Hoagland Brothers® wiring harness on any loaded pickguard purchased through our web store during the first 30 days of original ownership unless we deem it abused and subject to certain conditions. (see below)
    • This warranty applies to the original purchaser and must be accompanied by a copy of the original sales receipt to be eligible.
    • Abused pickups, as determined by The Hoagland Brothers®, will not be accepted for return. Abuse includes, but is not limited to: removing or shortening the leads, removing the protective coil tape, wiring the pickup in a way that it was not meant to be wired (as determined by The Hoagland Brothers®), physical damage such as any damage to the bobbin, coil, or baseplate, corrosion due to exposure to any type or quantity of liquid (beer, water, etc.), or punctures.
    • If you are the original owner and are not happy with the sound or tone of your Heywood Pickups® pickup, you can exchange it within the first 30 days of ownership for another pickup.
    • Pickups with cosmetic damage (as determined by The Hoagland Brothers) can only be returned for repair, not for exchange.
    • The purchaser pays for all return shipping costs.
    Pertaining to Hoagland Brothers® Loaded Pickguards customized to the buyer's specifications:
    • There are no refunds on loaded pickguards.
    • Hoagland Brothers® guarantees to repair or replace, at our discretion, any defective Heywood Pickup® on any loaded pickguard during the first 10 years of original ownership unless we deem it abused and subject to certain conditions. (see below)
    • Hoagland Brothers® guarantees to repair or replace, at our discretion, any defective Hoagland Brothers® wiring harness on any loaded pickguard purchased through our web store during the first 30 days of original ownership unless we deem it abused and subject to certain conditions. (see below)
    • This warranty applies to the original purchaser and must be accompanied by a copy of the original sales receipt to be eligible.
    • Abused pickups, as determined by The Hoagland Brothers®, will not be accepted for return. Abuse includes, but is not limited to: removing or shortening the leads, removing the protective coil tape, wiring the pickup in a way that it was not meant to be wired (as determined by The Hoagland Brothers®), physical damage such as any damage to the bobbin, coil, or baseplate, corrosion due to exposure to any type or quantity of liquid (beer, water, etc.), or punctures.
    • Pickups with cosmetic damage (as determined by The Hoagland Brothers) can only be returned for repair, not for exchange.
    • The purchaser pays for all return shipping costs.
  • Web-purchased loaded pickguard not as described:
    • If you feel that the custom-built Hoagland Brothers® Loaded Pickguard that you received does not fit the description of the product as listed on our web site, www.hoaglandbrothers.com, it should be reported to our shop within 30 days from the date of the purchase. Clear evidence must be provided proving that the purchased product is significantly different and not as it is described on the web site (such as a documented digital meter reading of the DC resistance of the pickup. Since DC resistance readings are affected by temperature, there is an acceptable variance of .2k ). Complaints which are based merely on the customer's false expectations or wishes are not honored. If it is determined by The Hoagland Brothers® that the loaded pickguard is significantly different from the product listed on our web site, you must return it to our shop and we will correct the issue and return the loaded pickguard to you. We will pay shipping from us back to you and, if it is determined by The Hoagland Brothers® that the loaded pickguard was incorrectly built, we will also credit you for the shipping costs from you to our shop. We will not pay the shipping costs from you to our shop until the determination has been made in our shop as to the status of the loaded pickguard.
  • Loaded pickguard built to customer's specifications not as described:
    • If you feel that the custom-built Hoagland Brothers® Loaded Pickguard that you received was not built to your specifications, it should be reported to our shop within 30 days from the date of the purchase. Clear evidence must be provided proving that the purchased product is significantly different (such as a documented digital meter reading of the DC resistance of the pickup(s). Since DC resistance readings are affected by temperature, there is an acceptable variance of .2k.) Complaints which are based merely on the customer's false expectations or wishes are not honored. If we feel that the loaded pickguard is significantly different from the ordered specifications provided to us by you at the time of purchase, you must return the loaded pickguard to our shop, uninstalled in your guitar, and we will make the necessary changes and return the pickguard to you. We will pay shipping from us back to you and, if it is determined by The Hoagland Brothers® that the pickguard was incorrectly built, we will also credit you for the shipping costs from you to our shop. We will not pay the shipping costs from you to our shop until the determination has been made in our shop as to the status of the loaded pickguard.
  • Major defects
    • Although all the products are thoroughly tested before shipping, unexpected errors may occur. In the case of such an error, you must contact Hoagland Brothers® either by email or phone for return approval. In the event that the pickup does not function and appears "dead" (a "0" reading on an ohms meter), we will replace it with another, new pickup within 21 days of receipt. If any deficiency is approved and we fail to correct it and ship it within 21 days from the date we receive it from the customer, we will issue, at the customer's discretion, a refund for the pickup OR a purchase credit equal to the original purchase amount (not to include the shipping costs). Failure, on the customer's part, to return the pickup(s) for service/repair after contacting our shop may result in a delayed resolution of the issue. Refusal to return the pickup(s) in question to our shop within 14 days will result in your inability to qualify for a replacement or a refund.

    General Return and Refund Information

    • Refunds will be returned to the customer in the same manner in which they were paid to the Hoagland Brothers®. If you paid us with a credit card, we will process your refund through to the same credit card that was used for purchase. If your purchase was paid for with a check or a money order, we will issue a check as your refund and it will be sent to the same address that you provided us as your shipping address.
    • There are no refunds on special ordered items.
